£29 million raised from 5p plastic bag tax.

The government claims that a significant amount of money has been raised from the 5p plastic bag charge, however all they have done is move the issue some where else.  I am now buying large black bags, that aren’t biodegradable.

It should be law the £29 million raised from the 5p plastic bag tax, should go to removing litter in local communities or environmental projects.  However as usual the larger corporations will most likely give it to causes nothing to do with why the 5p bag tax was created in the first place.  They will probably also use it as an headline, to make it look as though they are making further charitable donations.

A local business that doesn’t have to charge the 5p bag tax, is charging it anyway and then making out they are giving money to a local children’s football team.

Regards

Tim
