I requested the following information from Rotherham council. It appears that enforcement didn’t begin until October for littering, when a large blitz was carried out. I believe these figures are accurate, previous figures provided were inaccurate, probably due to the rush to provide. If the person who provided this information is reading this blog, I would like to thank them, as I know that some work went into this data collecting.

I am hoping in future that Rotherham council will put more effort into enforcement and education to reduce the need to street cleanse. A number of the people above have refused to pay their litter fines so far, which should result in larger fines in court. Hopefully, this will raise awareness about enforcement, when this appears in the Sheffield and Rotherham star. I don’t want to live in streets filled with litter and don’t see why my council tax should go towards removing unnecessary litter from the streets. I pick up half a bag of rubbish in a small area around where I live every week, I certainly don’t enjoy litter picking.
